So to help stabilise the grid and avoid the penalty, he runs his swimming pool “full throttle” during the day, and he’s started charging his Tesla in the middle of the day, rather than offpeak at night.The father of two says he’s even thinking of putting in a pool heater to use more power.

“If anything, I’m looking for ways to use even more electricity for useful purposes, but I’m running out of ideas that are pragmatic,” he tellsCorcoran isn’t alone is trying to consume more electricity to help stabilise Australia’s power grid when there’s an oversupply of renewables, and get paid doing it.
