Rich Lister and luxury property developer Tim Gurner is super serious about his health and fitness even before he reaches the office each morning.

My mornings are pretty intense. At 5.15am I’m up. I am pretty serious about my sleep. I’m straight to the gym. Three days a week I see a strength and conditioning coach and other days I’m at home in the gym for 45 minutes to an hour. Then I do breathing exercises for about 20 minutes. I’ve had a wellness coach, Nam Baldwin, for about 12 years. He works with Mick Fanning, the Gold Coast Suns and quite a few CEOs. I speak to him once every two weeks.

In our industry you’ve got to be pretty driven and ambitious. It’s a high-stress, high-octane industry. Most of the people in the office are pretty serious about their health. A lot of people have an Oura ring. We have a wellness room in the office and have a mindful lady we do a lot with.I drive my wife mad because she loves cooking, and food for me is very much fuel. I don’t care about food.

This is a decaf [coffee]. I only have one coffee in the morning, first thing. One January I went off it and my wife said I was being so much nicer. I’m pretty wired and intense anyway, so any stimulant like that just sends me over the edge. When I was younger, it was always about how to amp up. Now it’s how do I calm down and be steady.

There’s an amazing guy in LA who has this thing called a blueprint. Each week he gets his blood tested and knows his exact nutrients and food. In my ideal world, this would prick me in the morning and tell me what I need to eat and drink, and I would just follow it like a robot. I wear the same thing every day. Whatever can take decisions out of my mind, so I can keep my decision-making to things that are important.My mum was CEO of [charity] Berry Street.
