FAMILY- and faith-based groups have been paying closer attention to House Bill 8910, or the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Act, which aims to curb the growing problem of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines. It has breezed through the lower house and is now on second reading before the Senate.The bill intends to integrate comprehensive adolescent sexuality education as a 'compulsory' part of education at all levels of learning, as stated in Section 9.
Indeed, the CSE program claims to provide 'age-appropriate' sexual education to children, but looking at the international sources of information on how CSE is being promoted could cause concern to every Filipino parent. Shockingly, according to a WHO framework for sexuality education in Europe, information on early childhood masturbation should be given to children as young as 4 years old and below.
