In theater, timing is everything — and for Nyoy Volante and Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante, it was timing that brought them together in a 2012 musical and has carried them through more than a decade of real-life partnership and onstage collaborations.
Mikkie’s impressive 14-year theater career began with her role as Liesel in “The Sound of Music.” Her credits include “Carousel,” “Aladdin,” “The Addams Family,” “Ghost the Musical,” “The Bridges of Madison County,” “Saturday Night Fever the Musical,” “Beautiful the Carole King Musical,” and “Carrie the Musical,” to name a few.
But when we patch things up, we always remind each other that this is just a moment, this is just work, and we’re fine. Once the argument is over, we don’t take it anywhere else,” Mikkie said. Nyoy agreed. “Just be patient — things will eventually sort themselves out. I think we’re mature enough to recognize when we’ve made a mistake or wronged each other, even in small ways. Communicate, but also give it time to settle before addressing it.
