WITH the benefit of hindsight, I now wish that I had included “cowardice” among the reasons I cited for deciding to boycott the Senate balloting in the May 12 midterm elections.In my column of May 10, 2025 , I wrote that I would not fill up the Senate section of my ballot to protest fundamental and outstanding flaws of the Senate in our system of government, among which are:1. It is not representative of the nation with many regions and provinces not represented by our senators.2.
The impeachment trial has not taken place for even just a single date.The nation still does not know the specific charges against the vice president; still less has occurred from the vice president and her defense team how they intend to refute or defang the long list of accusations.It’s clear now that the impeachment trial of the vice president will now cross into the domain of the 20th Congress which will only convene in July.
