Across the city, the average rent price of a one-bedroom unit is upwards of $2,450, according to data from Urbanation and rentals.ca.

At 752 Richmond St. W., this one-bedroom, one-bathroom basement apartment is less than a five-minute walk from Trinity Bellwoods Park, as well as several restaurants and fast-food joints, locally-owned bakeries and cafes, and more.

According to the listing, the rent covers all utilities in this furnished apartment, including the internet. But the apartment appears to be small, have low ceilings, and — with what appears to be only one small window — to lack natural light, Litchmore said. The kitchen has a minifridge, the listing notes, rather than a full-sized fridge.of the basement, meaning the owner doesn’t guarantee the basement is actually a legal apartment, Litchmore said.

Prior to the listing being removed, the agent for the apartment told the Star that when the owner purchased the semi-detached house, it was already a triplex and the owner didn’t obtain the documentation to ensure that it was up to code.
