The tail end of ex-Tropical Cyclone Megan has dumped significant rain across much of Queensland, with more on the way for the Easter long weekend, as residents in remote areas cut off by floodwaters are going 'stir crazy'.

Significant widespread rain has fallen across much of Queensland over the weekend.Storms and light showers will persist into the Easter long weekend, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

"Apart from the channel country, the whole of western Queensland has a damp weekend ahead," meteorologist Livio Regano said.On the coast, a monsoon trough was driving rainfall totals of about 50mm an hour in the Townsville region on Monday morning, the bureau said. Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council chief executive Troy Fraser said the prolonged isolation was affecting residents' mental health."It could be anywhere between one week to four weeks before we see roads opening up again.
