The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas reported a peaceful New Year's celebration with a significant decrease in crime compared to the previous year. From December 16, 2024, to January 1, 2025, crime incidents dropped by 28.24%, with a 69.32% decrease in focus crimes like murder, homicide, and theft. Police Director Brigadier General Jack Wanky commended the efforts of all units and stakeholders in maintaining peace and order throughout the region.

THE Police Regional Office in Western Visayas reported that the New Year festivities across the region concluded without any major incidents directly tied to the celebration.According to PRO 6 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, the holiday period was marked by religious gatherings, family reunions, gift-giving events, and other community-based activities.

24 percent lower—than the 1,264 incidents reported during the same period last year.The eight focus crimes logged during this period dropped to 54 incidents from the previous 176, reflecting a decrease of 122 incidents or 69.32 percent. These focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of motor vehicles, and carnapping of motorcycles.
