No new deaths were reported this past week. The last death was reported on Sept. 28. The current number of Sudbury deaths since the pandemic began is at 175
Public Health Sudbury and Districts has reported an increase of 96 new COVID-19 in the Greater Sudbury area. With 99 cases reported on Wednesday and 165 cases reported on Monday, the weekly total of new cases was 362.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in Sudbury there have been 19,399 cases. The majority of those cases — 19,068 — have been resolved. As of Friday, there are only 331 active COVID cases being monitored locally. The Sudbury health unit reported there are currently 14 local COVID-19 outbreaks in local long-term care homes, retirement homes and other congregate settings. This includes two active outbreaks at the Sudbury Jail.
