The PSA said the data covered registered marriages from local government units across the country. It does not include those from Filipinos who married abroad. Intermarriages between Filipinos and American nationals registered the highest number with 1,193 or 24.7 percent of the total. This was followed by marriages with Japanese, Canadian, Chinese, and Indian nationals.
PSA data showed that most of the marriages in 2020 occurred in February at 44,349 or 18.4 percent with a daily average of 1,529 marriages per day. On the other hand, April and May saw the least number of marriages.
