STORY CONTINUES BELOW THESE SALTWIRE VIDEOS

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A man facing 102 charges stemming from 20 different police files asked the court for a sentencing date Thursday, Feb. 9. Kevin Jordan’s charges include 29 for theft under $5,000, 63 for breaching court orders, robbery, assault, uttering threats, resisting a police officer and failing to show up in court.

Crown and defence suggested 10 of the files may be withdrawn once Jordan’s sentencing hearing gets underway in provincial court in St. John’s March 9. The court has set aside a full day for the hearing, which will involve the presentation of details for each of the allegations.Jordan, who appeared in court by video from the West Coast Correctional Centre in Stephenville, asked if he could attend his sentencing the same way, telling Marshall, “I don’t really want to travel for 10 hours.

Defence lawyer Candace Summers told Marshall that Jordan hopes to serve his sentence at the Stephenville facility and would lose his place there if he were to leave to attend court in St. John’s before the hearing. It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
