MPIW Chief Operating Officer Angelo David Berba said water rationing is needed as raw water sources from Agananan River, Tigum River, and Jalaur River are rapidly declining.

ILOILO CITY — Metro Pacific Iloilo Water begins water rationing on Tuesday, April 30, in this city and two neighboring towns as prolonged dry spell is negatively impacting water sources.

THE prolonged dry spell is affecting water level at Aganan River and impacting the potable water supply for Metro Iloilo. MPIW Chief Operating Officer Angelo David Berba said water rationing is needed as raw water sources from Aganan River, Tigum River, and Jalaur River are rapidly declining. This is impacting the supply coming into MPIW, which is only receiving a little more than 60 millions of liters per day and considered a critical level.Berba is hoping residents of Iloilo City as well as those living in Pavia and Santa Barbara towns will understand that water rationing is the best option.

In Iloilo City, districts affected will be Arevalo, City Proper, La Paz, Lapuz, Molo, western part of Mandurriao, and the southern part of Jaro.MPIW will deploy water tanks in affected areas to augment the needs of consumers.
