The request of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System for an increased allocation from the Angat-Ipo-La Mesa water system for the rest of June has been approved by the National Water Resources Board .“It was approved already. We received the request from MWSS for an extra one cubic meter per second allocation for the of month of June,” Department of Environment and Natural Resources Undersecretary Carlos Primo David said in an interview with reporters.
On Tuesday, MWSS Administrator Leonor Cleofas said the agency asked the NWRB to increase its allocation for the June 16–30 period to 53 cms from the current 51 cms covering the June 1–15 period.Cleofas said increasing allocation from the Angat system will ensure there will be no water interruptions in Metro Manila and its nearby areas.David clarified that the additional one cms allocation for MWSS will be an “on standby volume,” meaning it will only be released when needed.
