ILOILO CITY — Authorities apprehended a wanted member of a communist terrorist group and his companion during a joint law enforcement operation in Arevalo district of this city on Thursday.The Iloilo City Police Office said the suspect, known only as alias 'Pendong,' is a Central Committee member of the Communist Party of the Philippines and former secretary of the Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay.
Pendong was tagged as a terrorist by the Anti-Terrorism Council in 2021 after he was linked to the murder of Ruben Cabunagan and Arturo Tagudinay, and attempted murder of Jodie Mordice, all in 2007.His accomplice, identified only as Jofel, was arrested in the coordinated operation. Police said he was a former CTG medic and a resident of Barangay Purok 2, Pavia, Iloilo.
