With COVID-19 cases in Western Australia anticipated to rise sharply at the end of the month, health authorities have moved to restrict elective surgeries in a bid to ease pressure on the hospital system.New elective surgery bookings will be limited to coincide with the surgeThe announcement came as WA recorded 13 new locally transmitted cases of COVID-19.

Under the elective surgery changes, no new bookings will be taken for non-urgent category two and three procedures after February 28. "So rather than cancel them, it's not booking those non-urgent patients, and then we'll do a catch up later."'Uptick' predicted at end of month
