The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts increased storm activity across the region in the next two days, while high temperatures also have firefighters on alert.
"I'm not worried about it. I'm worried about it not raining," he said.He said they were likely to say, "I'll take 50 millimetres if it's on offer, and if it has a bit of wind and lightning, so be it"."Most people will be watching the skies [the] next couple of days and hoping that we get some rain but not too much of the severe storm activities, that being strong wind and potential hail," he said.
"Because we've had a number of fires in the area just before Christmas, we're a little bit concerned about the forecast and how that could impact the communities if we get some ignition sources.""We'll have a fire spotter up mid-morning [on Thursday], just tracking some areas and then just seeing if there's any lightning strikes that happened from Wednesday night's predicted storms as well," he said.
"You can look across the landscape, and it still has a green tinge to it, but there's a lot of dead fuel matter in amongst that."
