According to her father, Marie was sitting and waiting for customers when the guard informed her to leave. Despite attempts to reason with the guard, the situation escalated when he grabbed Marie's sampaguita flowers. Marie's family revealed that she is a first-year medical technology student and sells flowers to cover her tuition, travel expenses, and other daily necessities. She earns between P1,500 and P2,000 daily, which is crucial to her family's financial stability. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has stepped in to provide P20,000 in aid to Marie, acknowledging the family's financial struggles. They also highlighted that Marie, due to her family's limited resources, wears a high school uniform to school.The DSWD has pledged to explore further ways to support Marie's flower-selling business. While Marie's family has expressed a willingness to forgive the security guard involved, the Philippine National Police announced its intention to pursue an administrative case against him. The PNP has scheduled a meeting with the guard next week, warning that if he fails to appear, an official complaint will be filed against him and his agency.
