A ‘violent’ convicted paedophile who cut off his monitoring bracelet and went on the run, sparking an urgent weeklong manhunt, has been recaptured.
The 44-year-old “high-risk serious offender” was apprehended at an address on Marquis Street on Thursday and taken into police custody.
“Mr Corbett is a recidivous offender and has violent tendencies," Detective Acting Inspector John Mottolini of Sex Crime Division said.Detective Mottolini said despite Mr Corbett’s previous offences, police had “no indication” he was likely to flee. “We always have concerns of somebody or this person of nature, you know, he is a declared or high risk serious offender.”
