President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Vince Dizon as the next head of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), effective February 21, 2025. Outgoing Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista resigned due to health reasons after serving for over two years. Dizon, a seasoned public servant with a background in infrastructure development and COVID-19 response, is expected to continue major projects like the Metro Manila Subway and the North-South Commuter Railway. His appointment has been welcomed by lawmakers and transport leaders who praise his experience and ability to deliver.

“Secretary Bautista looks forward to a smooth transition, after which a much-needed vacation to recuperate from two and a half years of intense public service,” the DOTr added. Dizon also received one of the highest civilian honors – the Order of Lakandula with the rank of Bayani – for his key contributions to the Build Build Build program and the country’s response to the Covid 19 pandemic.
“We are confident that with his skills and experience, he could fast track the urgently needed reforms and projects under the department. The new DOTR chief can count on our support in bringing relief to our commuting public and lasting solutions to our transportation sector,” she added.
