David Screech says he was trying to counter false information.
A View Royal couple, who had planned a meet-and-greet event for mayoral candidate Sid Tobias at their home over the weekend, say they were left shaken after an uncomfortable encounter with Mayor David Screech on their property.
“Everybody’s welcome to their own opinion, but people are not free to behave in an unruly manner like that, and especially an elected official who has a duty to adhere to community standards,” added Wilson. The flyer also said there was to be a “community discussion” about it at Wilson and McDougald’s home at the same time as the meet-and-greet.
“I asked [Wilson] for the opportunity to address his meeting for five minutes when the meeting started to explain the misinformation in that letter and the fact that it attacked my character and integrity and he just absolutely wouldn’t have it,” said Screech, who acknowledged he also had an argument with one of his council colleagues on the property.
“It still carries on. And the fact that they’re trying to discredit me now by going to , they’re just trying to discredit me more,” he said.
