The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in the Philippines arrested a Vietnamese national posing as a doctor for offering unauthorized medical services at a beauty clinic in Mandaluyong City.
Agents from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a Vietnamese national in Mandaluyong City for offering medical services illegally. The NBI Organized and Transnational Crime Division (OTCD) identified the individual as Trinh Thi Kieu Nguyen or Dr. Rosa. She was charged for violating Republic Act No. 2382 or the Medical Act of 1959.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said the operation stemmed from an information that a female Vietnamese national at a beauty clinic was engaged in the illegal practice of medicine. Among the medical procedures the fake doctor allegedly offered include eyelid surgery, vaginal tightening, botox, and other cosmetic procedures for a fee. Santiago said there is an ongoing verification on the status of the subject in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration. He emphasized that the NBI is committed to apprehending individuals who are performing jobs in the medical profession without a license
