Cavite 4th District Representative Elpidio Barzaga , Jr. has passed away at the age of 74.The passing of the veteran lawmaker was announced on his official Facebook page on Saturday."It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cavite 4th District Representative Elpidio "Pidi" F. Barzaga Jr., in California, USA, Saturday afternoon ," read the post on his social media page.
Last October, Barzaga announced that he was set to undergo an open-heart surgery in the United States."Once I have recovered and regained my strength and vigor, I will carry on with my mission in life, which is to be of service to my fellow Dasmariñeros," he said on Facebook.A former president of the National Unity Party, Barzaga was the chairperson of the House natural resources committee in the 19th Congress. He also served as vice chairperson in four other committees .
