It took years before Hollywood star, Vanessa Hudgens, finally visited the Philippines for the first time. READ:
Now that she's in touch with her Filipino heritage, Hudgens said that she's excited to do her duties as a global tourism ambassador for the Philippines.
"It's really interesting coming here and beautiful. It's eye-opening. Just the family aspects of the Philippines is something that is prominent and so strong. I've always been close to them - my mom and my sister. That definitely comes from my heritage," she said. "I feel like I was definitely raised very American, except for all the rice and the adobo and the pancit.
Honestly, she's a big reason why I sing and how I sing. She really inspired me to record and keep on at my dream. I mean, that's what it's all about," she said, adding that she hopes to meet her soon.Gina said that she always reminded her daughters to be kind when they were kids."Raising two girls in America, I try to infuse the Filipino culture. Kindness is No. 1 as not forgetting who we are, and being true to ourselves.
About her dream role, the Filipino-American star said: "There are so many stories to be told. So many genres that I haven't done yet. There's still a lot to be done. I still feel there's still a long road ahead of me. I am excited to do things that I haven't done. That's always what excited me the most, to tell different kinds of stories from different walks of life, and give a voice to people who don't have a voice.
Soriano also produced “A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery” which won a special film award at the Berlinale International Film Festival and “Transit” which became the Philippines’ entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the“We are honored to work with Vanessa on this film project. It’s inspiring to note that with everything she has achieved in life, she wants to discover her Filipino roots and pay homage to her mother’s country.
