THE United States and Australia expressed willingness to conduct joint maritime patrols in the West Philippine Sea with the Philippines.
This possibility was raised by the respective defense secretaries during separate discussions with Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.During their meeting on Wednesday at the Department of Defense Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City, Galvez and visiting Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles discussed the possibility of joint patrols in the West Philippine Sea.
US Defense chief Lloyd Austin 3rd, on the other hand, discussed with his Filipino counterpart during a phone call on Wednesday several proposals to deepen operational cooperation and enhance shared security, including the resumption of joint operations in the South China Sea.Based on a handout provided by Pentagon Press Secretary BGen.
