THE National Historical Commission of the Philippines , led by its Chairman Regalado Trota Jose Jr., will unveil the historical marker ' Francisco Ignacio Alcina ' on July 30The marker reads the following in Filipino.Padre Francisco Ignacio Alcina , SJ 'Historian, missionary and defender of the natives. Born in Gandia, Valencia, Spain, Feb. 2, 1610. Entered the Jesuit in Aragon, Spain, Feb. 15, 1624. Arrived in Manila to continue being a Seminarist, May 26, 1632.
' Has written various works on the spread of Christianity, culture, ancient history and animals and plants in the visayas; the most famous here is the historia de las islas e indios de bisayas that information started to be taken while on the mission in Borongan, 1634; written while in the residence of the Jesuits in Palapag, Ibabao , 1667 and finished in the residence of the Jesuits in Satbalogan, Samar, 1668. Died, San Miguel, Manila, July 30, 1674.
