Deputy Speaker and Basilan lone district Rep. Mujiv Hataman is leading calls for all Marawi civil society organizations (CSOs) and city rehabilitation advocates to unite and speak in

“We need one strong, loud voice for Marawi, and we should start organizing everyone for this effort,” Hataman, a former community organizer himself, said.

Hataman and Anak Mindanao Party-List Rep. Amihilda Sangcopan met with leaders of Marawi CSOs last August 20. They were accompanied by Deputy Minority Leader, Quezon City sixth district Rep. Kit Belmonte. An estimated 1,000 ISIS-inspired Maute Group terrorists occupied Marawi City in Lanao del Sur on May 23, 2017. It took the military and police five months to drive out the enemy, with the extensive shelling and bombing leaving the Islamic city in shambles.

“I am sure we can do more if we are united and we understand the concerns of people in the ground, especially those in Marawi. This is why having one voice is important, so we agree on everything and move forward,” he added.
