Union Bank of the Philippines has appointed its Senior Executive Vice President Henry Rhoel R. Aguda as President and Chief Executive Officer of subsidiary UnionDigital Bank Inc.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the bank said its Board of Directors has approved the secondment of Aguda, who is UnionBank’s Chief Technology and Operations Officer and Chief Transformation Officer, as head of its digital banking arm.With this appointment, Aguda is also leaving his post as CitySavings Chairman and is taking over the reins of UnionDigital from Ramon Vicente De Vera, who will lead a new market expansion role for UnionBank.

Under his term as Chairman, CitySavings expanded its reach in the mass and underserved markets by accelerating the approval of teacher and motorcycle loans through the use of data science credit-scoring and acquisition models. Delgado is concurrently serving as the Senior ExecutiveVice President, Chief Customer Experience Officer and Chief Digital Channels Officer of UnionBank.

Additionally, Delgado played a key role in the signing of the game-changing acquisition between Citibank N.A. and UnionBank.
