BATU PAHAT: Two men were killed after their vehicle hit a road sign and crashed into a river in Ayer Hitam near here.
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said the victims, aged 21 and 22, were heading towards Ayer Hitam from Parit Tengah in Parit Raja in the 6.30am incident yesterday.
When they reached the sixth kilometre stretch of Jalan Parit Botak, the driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a road sign on the right side of the trunk road, he added.Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Shamin Mohamed Salikin said seven personnel were sent to the scene following a distress call.Firemen removed the men from the vehicle but they had already died, police said.
