BATU PAHAT: Two men were killed after their vehicle crashed into a road sign and fell into a river at KM6 Jalan Parit Botak, Ayer Hitam, here.
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said the incident occurred at 6.30am on Saturday when the victims, aged 21 and 22, were heading towards Ayer Hitam from Parit Tengah, Parit Raja.“The driver suddenly lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the right side of the road, hitting a road sign before the vehicle fell into the Parit Kuari river,” he said in a statement.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the location, and their bodies were brought out by the Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Department.Meanwhile, Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Shamin Mohamed Salikin said the department has deployed seven personnel to the location to conduct rescue operations.
“The car fell into a one-metre-deep river with both victims trapped inside the car,” he said, adding that the case was then handed over to the police for further action after the bodies were removed.
