Police are investigating after the body of a 58-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were discovered, both with gunshot wounds, inside a property in New South Wales.

The body of a 58-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were discovered at an address on Kookaburra Circuit at Yamba on Thursday afternoon.

NSW Police confirmed on Thursday night that a crime scene had been established and an investigation was underway. "The bodies of a 58-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were located inside the property, both suffering gunshot wounds," a police statement read.Police said initial inquiries indicate that the 58-year-old man was a"licenced firearms holder", with detectives requesting his licensing history from the NSW Firearms Registry.
