KOTA KINABALU — The newly inaugurated American President Donald Trump has signed hundreds of executive orders — the highest number within the shortest period in US history — since he once again took control of the White House, earning widespread attention both domestically and internationally. In principle, these executive orders carry the force of law unless overturned by US congressional legislation , or declared invalid by a US federal court .
Of course, this strategy has also relied on the US maintaining relatively low tariffs on imported goods, including those manufactured overseas by American businesses. As such, if many goods imported into the US are produced by American businesses that have invested in overseas factories and then shipped back to the US, would Trump's move to impose high tariffs not risk harming the interests of these American businesses? Well, this conundrum could perhaps be analyzed on several levels.

Trump Seeks to Delay Sentencing in Hush Money CaseFormer US President Donald Trump is making a last-ditch effort to delay his sentencing in the hush money case. He filed an appeal to a state court, hoping to overturn a lower court ruling that set the sentencing for January 10, just days before Trump's inauguration. The case stems from a $130,000 payment made by Trump's former lawyer to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to prevent her from disclosing an alleged sexual encounter with Trump before the 2016 election.
