THE trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has brought rain in Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.

'It is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Mindanao but the weather disturbance has a slim chance to develop into a tropical depression,' weather forecaster Obet Badrina said.The LPA was estimated 474 kilometers east-southeast of General Santos City.

Pagasa said flash floods or landslides are possible in this area due to moderate with at times heavy rains.Meanwhile, Visayas and Luzon will continue to have hot and humid weather in the next 24 hours.The weather bureau said these areas may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms late afternoon or at night.
