Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV on Tuesday debunked claims of Peter Joemel Advincula alias “Bikoy” who accused opposition members of plotting to overthrow the Duterte administration.
“What this guy’s been doing is he’s trying to twist or embellish certain facts and the purpose of that meeting is to vet him. A lot of prospective witnesses have been vetted. If they don’t check out then I don’t present him or anybody to the public,” Trillanes said in an interview with ANC’s Early Edition.
The former senator said it was true he had met Advincula around August last year at the Ateneo de Manila University. “He was introduced to me by some members of the religious sector, and they had him vetted. So I did, and this ‘Biko’ character didn’t check out. And that’s the reason why I didn’t present him in the Senate,” Trillanes said.Advincula tagged Trillanes and the Liberal Party as those behind “Oplan Sonoma”, a project to overthrow the Duterte administration and install Vice President Leni Robredo as president.
“Bikoy” is the hooded figure who linked President Duterte’s family to illegal drug activities in several videos. In the “Ang Totoong Narco List” videos, Advincula claimed that Duterte’s son, former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte, lawyer Maneses Carpio, former special assistant to the President and senator-elect Christopher “Bong” Go, and even President Duterte’s partner Honeylet Avanceña, belong to a drug syndicate.
