Meet at Percy Playground to plant trees and shrubs along Junction Creek
Junction Creek Stewardship Committee is holding a tree planting and children’s art event in the Flour Mill area Oct. 1. The tree planting along Junction Creek takes place 1 to 3:30 p.m., and will be done under the guidance of Peter Beckett, a local ecologist and leading expert in Sudbury's re-greening efforts.
Trees and shrubs that are one to three gallons in size will be planted instead of seedlings to generate an immediate positive impact and maximize plant survivorship. From 2-4 p.m., join artist Sophie Edwards and ECCCo for an art engagement for children titled Exploring Tree Families through Drawing. Using drawing as a tool for close observation, children will explore how trees are part of an intergenerational, inter-species family.
This event is supported by TD Friends of the Environment Foundation and Early Childhood Creative Collaborations.
