Although the planned week-long transport strike was halted on its third day, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said transport groups actually made their point “very clearly.”
Marcos said the transport strike showed the government the way to revisit the implementation of the public utility vehicle modernization program.
The President said the government has until December this year to revisit and restudy the PUV modernization program implementation to ensure that it will not bring added burden to the transport workers. “Of course napakaimportante na safe ang kanilang sasakyan at kapag tayo nga ay papasok sa era ng electric vehicles ay dadahan dahanin natin ,” he said.
The chief executive assured the transport groups that the government will fix the system in a bid to implement the program better. The inspection of jeepneys to ensure the safety of drivers and commuters will push through, he said.
