The collision involved three vehicles, OPP say
Sources tell the Toronto Sun that the recruit was on his way to the Toronto Police College, where he is in training, when he was caught in the horrific crash. Sources say the Toronto Police Service recruit had recently completed training at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer and was in final training to start with TPS in the new year.“It’s life altering,” a police source said of the condition of the officer.
“We were shocked and saddened to learn of the collision that took place early this morning seriously injuring one of our recruits,” Toronto Police Association president Jon Reid said. “The cadet was on his way to a training session when he was struck by an alleged drunk driver. I, along with other directors of the TPA, attended the hospital this morning to support the cadet and his family. We are hopeful for a full recovery.”
Chief Myron Demkiw was at the college to console the recruit’s classmates, some of whom are also at the hospital in support as well.Hwy. 401 at Brock was closed into the afternoon.Share this article in your social network
