MANILA, Philippines — Tickets for Jamie Lloyd 's reimagining of "Romeo & Juliet" starring Tom Holland in his West End return sold out in under two hours, leading to brewing rumors of a Broadway run down the line.
"'Romeo & Juliet' will head to Broadway after its London run, with details to be announced in due course," a source tole The Mirror. "While director Jamie Lloyd has made a name for his minimalist adaptations of classic texts, the headline grabber for what is essentially yet another production of 'Romeo & Juliet' is undoubtedly its leading man."
Holland will portray Romeo in what will be his first stage performance since his debut as the titular character in "Billy Elliot the Musical," which he performed on the West End over a decade ago after also playing Billy's best friend Michael Caffrey.Starring opposite Holland is Francesca Amewudah-Rivers, making her West End debut. However, her cast announcement led to widespread racial abuse which was immensely slammed by the show's producers.
