Is the city on the hook for more money? Did the maintenance contract change? How much is Rideau Transit Maintenance being paid? In a recent statement, the mayor said “the terms of the deal are confidential.” Why? It is impossible to believe that such a vehicle did not already exist. Such a vehicle would allow pantographs to be lowered away from the overhead catenary wire. A hydrocarbon- or battery-powered tow motor should have been an essential recovery vehicle from the get-go. This is like watching an old movie of the Keystone Cops!A letter-writer asked last week why Canada didn’t shoot down the Chinese balloon when it was in our skies. I’m not sure we have the capability.
