The Ottawa Senators lost more than just two points Saturday afternoon.

Mads Sogaard finished the game and the club will have to recall Kevin Mandolese from its AHL affiliate in Belleville because Cam Talbot is already out with a groin injury. Sitting idle didn’t do anything to help the Senators long playoff odds. The club went into the break six points out of the final wildcard spot in the East and woke up Saturday nine points back. Closing the gap will be the biggest issue for the club.
That came only 17 seconds after McDavid cross-checked alternate captain Thomas Chabot off the puck in Ottawa zone and threw the puck across to McLeod, who beat Forsberg at 13:35.Article content
