On Jan. 1 and 2, I attempted to declare, but the function had not been activated. I was successful on Jan. 3, however, and received a confirmation e-mail. How much money is this unnecessary process supposed to raise if multiple notices with extra colourful instructions are being mailed out?At first I thought the vacant-unit tax form was a joke; but having lived in Ottawa for 53 years, I have seen no other evidence of humour in this city.
Yes, COVID is not going away; it is steadily mutating, killing people or making them sick. However, the time has come for us to not live in fear, give up hope or depend on our politicians and medical authorities to warn us constantly. After living through it for three years, are we not capable of working around this illness?
