ABS-CBN and Nathan Studios launched their new dance reality show, Time To Dance, on January 18th, promising a showcase of world-class dancing every Saturday. Hosted by Gela Atayde and Robi Domingo, the show is more than just a competition for Atayde; it's a platform for advocacy. She revealed that Time To Dance aims to support aspiring dancers and inspire the community, highlighting the need for more inclusivity and opportunities within the dance world.
The show boasts a panel of esteemed judges and coaches, including celebrity performers AC Bonifacio and Darren Espanto, alongside renowned dance experts like Chips Beltran, Lema Diaz, and Jobel Dayrit. Robi Domingo lauded Gela Atayde's hosting skills, praising her growth and ability to connect with the audience despite this being her first hosting gig. Director Vimi Rivera emphasized that Time To Dance goes beyond finding the best dancer. The show aims to celebrate the Filipino dance community and showcase its dedication and talent on a global stage. The premiere episode featured 17 dance hopefuls undergoing intense training, facing both group evaluations and individual dance battles. The competition is not just about technical prowess; it demands grit, passion, and resilience. Atayde shared her experience witnessing dancers struggle financially and expressed her commitment to supporting them. The episode highlighted emotional moments, like one contestant opening up about caring for his father battling cancer, and another contestant sharing his journey balancing family life and a small business. Six dancers advanced to the next round after their performances, joining the 12 official contenders. The next episode will reveal which of the remaining hopefuls will secure a spot.
