MANILA, Philippines — The UST Golden Tigresses played like their old selves again -- gritty and hungry.
Detdet Pepito said that this is the reason why UST overcame the De La Salle Lady Spikers in a five-set thriller, 25-12, 22-25, 13-25, 25-23, 15-13, in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.'I think it's really our grit. This time, we brought back that hunger. We just reminded each other that we need to lean on one another because in the past few games, it felt like we were doing things on our own,' said Pepito .
Individually, Pepito, the reigning Best Libero, also managed to showcase her usual defensive prowess as she logged 24 digs and 16 receptions. The UST Teamwork, Pepito said, is what enabled her to be her usual self.'It's really tough when you don't have help. Earlier, like I keep saying, we had some good teamwork. I didn't feel as heavy as I did in the past few games, so I was able to do the usual stuff. That's pretty much it.
