IN light of the Alice Guo fiasco, should the Commission on Elections consider tightening the requirements for the filing of certificates of candidacy for elective posts?Private companies require the presentation of the latest clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation and/or the Philippine National Police clearance certificate, among others, from jobseekers.
In the course of the investigation conducted by the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality chaired by Sen. Risa Hontiveros, it was learned that Alice Guo's birth certificate was filed when she was already 17 years old. Further investigation appears to show that Alice Guo is not a Filipino citizen as she claims.
