“The suspect threatened the responding barangay tanod that he [would] remove the safety pin and attempt to blow it up. During the fight, the suspect removed the safety pin, which resulted in the explosion of the hand grenade,” the PNP Calabarzon said.
Victims Julius Tindoc, Joseph Barrera, and Mark Gio Layug died from the blast while Reymart Patricio remains in critical condition at the Divine Grace Hospital due to injuries. Two other injured victims, Erickson Valenzuela and Alejandro Dizon, are currently in a “stable condition” at the Philippine General Hospital.
Suspect Arjay Camacho, who was also injured from the explosion, is also in a “stable condition” at the Cavite Medical Hospital, according to police. But his alleged cohort – a minor with the alias Daniel – was turned over to the Cavite City Social Welfare and Development Office.
