Transport Minister Mark Bailey said the department is seeking 'urgent legal advice on the swift re-issuance of incorrectly suspended licences'.

Transport Minster Mark Bailey blamed a "fault" for hundreds of incorrectly-issued seatbelt penalties.abc.net.au/news/qld-incorrect-seatbelt-penalties-issued-licences-suspended/102578832Almost 2,000 Queenslanders have been "incorrectly issued" penalties for not wearing seatbelts properly, leading to some drivers having their licences wrongfully suspended.

The fines caused a total of 626 drivers to have their licences "incorrectly" suspended, and 236 "incorrectly" served good behaviour periods. "For the remaining licence holders who have retained their licence but incorrectly lost some points, TMR will reverse the incorrectly issued double demerit points," Mr Bailey said.

"This shouldn't have happened. I'm very angry about it, and we are acting swiftly to contact those impacted."
