THIRD-QUARTER economic growth remains unchanged at 5.2 percent despite upward revisions for some sectors, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said on Tuesday.

THIRD-QUARTER economic growth remains unchanged at 5.2 percent despite upward revisions for some sectors, the Philippine Statistics Authority said on Tuesday. It said that growth rates were actually better for the education , manufacturing and financial and insurance sectors , but these were not enough to affect the overall gross domestic product expansion.Gross national income for the period also remained unchanged at 6.8 percent, the PSA said.

The revisions were made based on an approved policy that is aligned with international standards for changes to national accounts, it added.Tuesday's announcement was made prior to the release of preliminary fourth-quarter and full-year GDP data this Thursday. Most economists polled by The Manila Times expect October-December growth to have improved from the third quarter but not at a strong enough pace to lift the full-year result to within the government's 6.0- to 6.5-percent target.
