Toyota could be axing select models to make way for its new workhorse
We’ve been hearing a lot about the all-new Toyota Tamaraw over the past couple of weeks since these sightings were posted. Just a few days ago, we received word on possible engine options for the next-generation utility vehicle. Now, we’ve been told that Toyota Motor Philippines might discontinue a few models once the new Tamaraw arrives.
The keywords we used above are “utility vehicle.” The Hilux Champ is being marketed as a utility truck in Thailand, and of course, it’ll be the same story here. Currently, TMP already has a few workhorses in the Lite Ace and the Hilux. Well, our source told us that select variants of those two models will be axed to make way for the Tamaraw.

The panel van version along with the patient transport vehicle, patrol vehicle, and modern PUV will still be available. As for the Hilux, it’ll supposedly be the cab-and-chassis, FX, and cargo variants discontinued.
If this will hold true—again, don’t quote us on anything when it comes to rumors like this—then we can probably expect the Tamaraw to be priced similarly as these models that it could replace. It’ll be a workhorse, after all, so it would only make sense if it were also affordable. What do you guys think? How much should TMP sell the Tamaraw here?
