Numerous heads of state, defense ministers, and other military and civilian authorities attended the event. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had the privilege of giving the keynote speech, discussing various aspects of Philippine foreign policy.
While countries like Singapore have allowed US vessels to dock and repair at their ports, the Philippines has expanded the already sufficient security arrangements with the United States. There are concerns that increased US presence might not only be used to counterbalance China in the South China Sea, but may also be included in the island chain strategy of the US to contain China in the Indo-Pacific.
