Plenty has changed in the time between last week\u0027s loss at B.C. and this weekend\u0027s upcoming game at Montreal.

Asked about playing for Bob Dyce, who was named the Ottawa Redblacks’ interim head coach following the firing of Paul LaPolice last Saturday, linebacker Avery Williams said: “He’s one of those guys you’ll run a 40-yard dash in a 30-yard room for. He had a speech one day and he was like, ‘I don’t want to play with guys that eat with utensils. I want to play with guys that eat with their hands.’ That’s some violent stuff to tell a bunch of men. That gets you hyped.

So, there will be a different vibe when the Redblacks travel to Montreal for Monday’s game. With a very slim chance of still making the playoffs, the Redblacks have nothing to lose. In what will go down as LaPolice’s last win as Ottawa’s head coach, the Redblacks beat the Alouettes 38-24 a bit more than a month ago in Montreal.

As for the returning veterans, Dyce said: “Adam is a big part of what we do on special teams and he’s started on defence as well. He’s a veteran type of player, so he’ll settle things down in that regard. Sherrod is another veteran guy; he just celebrated his 30th birthday. He’ll really help the communication on the back end. Some challenges come from a lack of communication and Sherrod’s a very vocal player.

McDiarmid, who has nearly two decades of CFL experience, comes to Ottawa after being special teams co-ordinator and running backs coach with Panthers Wroclaw of the European League of Football. Je was special teams co-ordinator with the Argonauts, Elks, Blue Bombers, Alouettes, Stampeders and Lions.
