PGA Cars launches the second-generation Porsche Macan in the Philippines, fully embracing electrification with two new variants. Explore the details of the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo's performance, design, and features.
The Macan is ushering in a new era in the Philippines , as PGA Cars, the country's official Porsche distributor, has officially unveiled the second-generation model. And as expected, it has embraced electrification. Before delving into the specifics of its powertrain, let's take a look at the exterior. The all-new Macan retains the sporty silhouette of its predecessor, while sporting a light signature reminiscent of its electric sibling, the Taycan.
However, in the Macan, the daytime running lights (DRLs) are housed separately from the headlights, which are positioned beneath. At the rear, the Macan 4 Electric proudly displays the new 'Macan 4' badging and features a prominent lightbar across the tailgate, a design element seen in other contemporary Porsches. The interior of the new Porsche Macan 4 is a haven of luxury, featuring premium black materials complemented by beautiful Bordeaux Red leather stitching. A sophisticated sports chronograph graces the dashboard, while rear passengers enjoy amenities such as power sunshades and individual climate controls. The all-new Macan boasts a trio of screens: one for the driver, one centrally located on the dashboard, and a dedicated one for the passenger. The main head unit offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, coupled with a powerful Bose speaker system.Speaking of power, the electric powertrain delivers ample performance. The base Macan 4 is equipped with two electric motors that power all four wheels, generating 408 hp and 650 Nm of torque. This configuration accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 5.2 seconds and boasts a maximum range of 613 km. The higher-performance variant, the Macan Turbo, packs a punch with 639 hp and a staggering 1,130 Nm of torque, also delivered by its two electric motors that propel all four wheels. It achieves a blistering 0 to 100 kph sprint in just 3.3 seconds, while offering an estimated maximum range of 591 km.Standard across the Macan range is the electronic Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system, which operates “about five times faster than a conventional all-wheel-drive system” and can supposedly react to wheel slip in just 10 milliseconds. Additionally, the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system allows drivers to customize their experience by stiffening or softening the suspension or adjusting ride height. For now, the Macan range available in the Philippines consists of these two variants, but PGA Cars has assured that the Macan Turbo and Macan 4 will be joined by the all-electric Macan, a rear-wheel-driven version of this electric SUV. This variant outputs 360 hp and 563 Nm of torque but excels in terms of range, capable of driving up to 641 km on a single charge. 'With the introduction of the new all-electric Porsche Macan, we have doubled our product lineup of fully electric vehicles,' said Porsche Philippines president and CEO Roberto Coyiuto III. 'This charges up our range of offerings and gives discerning consumers a complete array of powertrain options to choose from—fully electric, hybrid, or combustion engine.'What are your thoughts on the all-new electric Porsche Macan?
